Somerset West CHC Celebrates History of Community Leadership

Thursday, March 24, 2016

Somerset West CHC was thrilled to celebrate a strong history of community leadership last night at our Eccles Branch!

The Board of Directors welcomed back ten former Chairpersons of the Board to honour the incredible leadership Somerset West CHC has received from the community over the past 44 years. As a community-governed, not-for-profit organization, community governance at our community health centre (CHC) gives our community a voice and a choice about the health services they receive. We're grateful to have worked with so many wonderful community leaders over the years!

In addition, this week we renamed our boardroom the Phil Brown Boardroom and invited Phil's family to unveil the new artwork. Phil was an active community member and oversaw the development of both of SWCHC’s branches (at 55 Eccles and 30 Rosemount). He passed away peacefully in November 2015 and was the treasurer of our Board of Directors at the time of his passing. Phil was a dear friend of Somerset West CHC and we're glad that his contributions to our organization and his leadership in our community will not be forgotten!
