Celebrating People and Communities First!

Thursday, September 29, 2016

Between September 26th and October 1st, 108 community-governed primary healthcare organizations across Ontario are taking part in an annual celebration of Community Health and Wellbeing Week. This year's theme is People and Communities First.

The week-long series of community events across the province is designed to shift the conversation about health system transformation from putting “Patients First” to placing “People and Communities First”. The goal is to highlight how community-governed primary healthcare organizations, including community health centres, lead the way in creating people- and communities-centred solutions to address health inequities.

To celebrate, Somerset West Community Health Centre (SWCHC) hosted a community meal in the Rochester Heights neighbourhood. Friends and neighbours filled up on fresh vegetables at a salad bar before enjoying crafts and play in the field!
